Details for Upcoming Ethereum Hard Fork

Please read our official statement regarding ShapeShift and the Ethereum hard fork, which will be occuring at approximatly 9 am EST tomorrow, October 18, 2016.

At approximately 9 am Eastern (block 2463000), Tuesday, October 18, 2016, the ETH network will undergo a hard fork in an attempt to resolve the recent DDOS attacks on the ethereum protocol. At the moment this seems to be an uncontentious change and things are expected to go smoothly (see more on the Ethereum blog).

What this means for ShapeShift users:

ETH and all ETH related Assets (Augur Reputation – REP, SingularDTV – SNGLS, and DigixDao – DGD) will be turned offline shortly prior to the hard fork and re-enabled once it is clear the fork has gone smoothly.

ETC will also be turned offline during this time to protect against any issues with an accidental fork (ETC has its own hard fork planned for the 25th of October).

If you run an ethereum node locally make sure you update to the latest geth or parity and are synced with the new chain after the fork before trying to use ShapeShift again.

For our users who are still waiting for ETH or ETH asset TX’s that are caught in the mining backlog, we should be able to take care of all these issues once the dust settles after the fork (hopefully within 24-48 hours).
